Interpersonal Psychotherapy

Individual therapy focuses on intrapersonal development and how past relationship history influences current relationship satisfaction. This interactional focus is not only used as a tool to enhance relationships, but to develop psychological awareness and well-being. Special focus is placed on mindfulness of interpersonal dynamics to increase effectiveness in relationship negotiation with self and others. We focus on the integration of life influences on mental and emotional health in the context of childhood development, young adulthood adjustment, finding satisfaction with life’s changes, and acceptance of mortality and the aging process. Various modalities for individual, couple, family, and group psychotherapeutic work are available.

Interpersonal Equine-Assisted Therapy

Horses have been used to assist in many different kinds of healing therapies. Interpersonal Equine Therapy © (IPET) is an original and effective equine-assisted approach to therapeutic psychological intervention developed by Sara D. Edwards and exclusive to Interpersonal Therapy, LLC. IPET provides a theoretical foundation and a practical model that can be used as a methodological interface to consistently guide psychological intervention. At Interpersonal Therapy, LLC, we clinically practice IPET as well as train and provide practical experience for therapists who wish to learn how to use this model. IPET is effective in treating all human clinical presentations. Horses are effective in exposing and revealing psychological dynamics that are dysfunctional and problematic. Transactional analysis of interactions between horses and clients creates a path to interpersonal adjustment that reduces anxiety and other emotional distress and increases a sense of confidence and success to motivate significant behavioral change. We offer special treatment programs using horses that address specific psychological issues.
